I traded in my busted PS 2 for a refurb one at the local gamer store. This is a cool place where tons of dads and sons hang out scouring the shelves for used games. I am not being sexist, there really are almost exclusively dads and sons there. I have been there twice in the last week and the only other females there were some bored sisters and a Russian woman who was yelling at her husband to hurry it up and get the new playboy game already (or some more sinister version of GTA)
Steve has pointed out to me that when we were kids and we got stuck trying to find the flower on level 5 of Super Mario (don't point out to me that you could have skipped level 5 cuz I already know) you would never have asked your PARENTS for help you went to someone's older bro or something. Now, kids ask their parents, who are sadly, geeky kids from our generation. I am not even a gamer and I get requests to help with games all the time. I even earned a "mom you are the smartest person I have ever met" for simply resetting the router.
Getting back in shape with my PS2 starts tomorrow. Seriously.

Family of 6
I love my new family. Last night I got me a solid six hours of sleep and Lil' Meg was all happy the last few days, just looking around all cute-like.
Now if I only I weren't going back to work...
As a side note, I decided to revive my DDR career to get back in shape so I bought Dancing with the Stars and DDR Max. Then the PS2 decided to die on me. Does anyone have an extra floating around?

Foto Favorita de Viernes
So I thought I would participate in Favorite Foto Friday and also a shout out to my muchos amigos who generously bestowed upon me a plethora of gifts in honor of my fourth child at a very enjoyable shower last night. Chellese, I have NO idea how your magical gift arrived on the same evening as my shower but I love that little sailor outfit to pieces and pieces.
I am not a photogenic person- like certain native groups and vampires, my image cannot be captured in still form. So having said that, I thought I would post a pic from the shower last night that demonstrates this factor.

PS: Two pics that Melissa took late at night of all the cute little gifts and outfits (I went to bed and wokeup to these cute fotos and all of my stuff organized!)

The Forgotten List
So you would think by baby numero 4 you would have some serious knowledge and skills in the baby dept, right? Nope. Suddenly there is a whole list of stuff that you have to do or go through that had completely slipped my mind. So if you are considering having another baby in the near future, here is a list of things you might want to consider:
1. More laundry. With five peeps in the house you would think we hit saturation point, but actually one small little person adds almost a load a week- that includes of course washing their towel and washcloths every time which you don't HAVE to do but I sort of obsess about that...
2. Sleepless nights. Why is it that one time getting up at 3:45 am to feed a baby makes you feel like a train wreck at 8 am? I remember that my babies were up at night but the actual train wreck feeling was a not-so-pleasant surprise.
3. The second you bathe or change a diaper, they go to the bathroom again. In the clean diaper. Sometimes she goes on the new diaper. Awesome, especially at 2 am.
4. The time you spend staring at their faces. How many hours does it take to memorize all the little elements of your baby's face? Endless! I can't stop staring at her.
5. The amount of time nursing. I have nothing to read, btw. When I had Bridget I read Harry Potter 1-4 (given to us as a gift for Casey's second birthday which was the day after I got home from the hospital with Bridge). When Gillian was born I read the Dune series (gift from a student.) Now I have nothing. I reread Twilight series the week before she was born so that option is gone. I need a good series or a set of good book recommendations. Steve got out Anna Karenina, Les Mis, and Last of the Mohicans (for Memzy: I WILL find you!). Who can read that kind of heavy literature in 20 minute bouts? I would appreciate some recommendations on light-hearted non-smut literature por favor.
6. How many pictures I feel a need to take all the time. I have filled up my camera three times in one week. Do you know how often that happens? For some of you every day, but for me? Once or twice a month. Now I have to constantly take pics of this child.
7. How many little baby outfits you get for 0-3 months. I almost wish I were having another baby just to reuse some of them that will hardly get worn at all. The next person to have a baby girl that I know is going to get a serious set of clothing from me.
8. How much happiness you feel when they are happy and how much stress you feel when your brain registers the sound of the baby crying.
But overall you can't help but adore them, especially when they look up at you like this:

The many faces of Meghan
Here she is reading her first book- she was way into it!

I am guessing that this is what we will look like in upcoming months once I start work again:

Chillin in her carseat... the only place where she would sleep the first few days.

Her Auntie Lissa took this pic since her hand was so cutely positioned- new Ipod ad?

I call her Little Meg, but here she looks like Little Napoleon:

Her most common pose these days- just looking around.

The birth story: in short hand
7:30 am have Eggs Benedict at Garret's Diner with Steve
8 am check-in to hospital
11 am doctor arrives and breaks water
Nada
1 pm start pitocin
1:30 ask for epidural
2:00 epidural hits right side of body only whereby rendering useless the epidural
3:00 Meghan born, 9 lbs 1 oz. Perfecto in every way except the pain part of it.
7:35 Flemings 1-3 show up to give love to baby sister and don't want to go home without her. Pics to come later. Didn't bring the cord to hospital.
Pictures to come later.
PS If you want a good epidural, have your baby at UC Davis Medical Center. They win in a best out of 3 contest.
PPS I have a private room but apparently it was the last one available yesterday.
APPS Steve brought me my computer in case you are wondering why I am posting from el hospital where I intend to stay until tomorrow.

Inducement
I am scheduled at 8 am to be induced. He is going to break my water and hope that gets it going.
I have a meeting on Monday though so tonight would be slightly more convenient.

Cute girlie girls
So while waiting around to have this next girl child, my awesome neighbor Katie randomly dropped by a gift certificate to Cold Stone. Since I love ice cream deeply I decided that I would take Gillian out to enjoy some super ice cream creation (in the back of my mind I wondered if I maxed out on all chocolate products in one ice cream it might induce labor). Gillian, btw, had been left out of playing with the boys she usually plays with on the premise that "the blue light saber is only for good guys and you are not a guy." She came in crying and I thought it would be perfect to take out a friend for a "girls only" date.
We stopped by Katie's house, even though I kind of knew it was their quiet time, and within seconds their adorable daughter was out the door and running to our car.
Here is a picture of the two of them together at Cold Stone:

Does anyone else notice how perfectly put together her little friend is? We stopped by during QUIET time for crying out loud. And notice how even after eating her red watermelon sorbet she doesn't have a drop on her?
How do people keep their kids so clean? And with such perfectly coiffed hair?

Post D-day
The due date is excruciating because you have to sit around and wait with nothing else to do while disappointing people.
The day after? Awesome! Because you can do whatever the heck you want and no one cares. My agenda today:
- Watch episodes 1-8 of season one, Prison Break (my favorite show and it would be yours too if you ever saw Wentworth Miller)- all the violence of 24 without the neo-cons around
- Put all my work emails into a folder so when I am out all the email in my inbox will be manageable when I come back
- Watch the Ballad of Sarah Palin
- Reread most of Breaking Dawn (yes I had already read Twilight- Eclipse in the last week)
- Read Midnight Sun (is it just me or is that her best one yet aside from a need for some editing?)
- Take a shower
-Go to open house and give an impromptu schpiel for the parents in English and 'spañol.
-Eat cheesecake
-Eat ginger lemon cookies from Costco
-Put together the new Pack N Play to motivate said child to be born already
So yeah, awesome day and I expect tomorrow to be equally mindless. If only I had episodes 9-12 from netflix already...

What Ant Problem?
Though not nearly as exciting as landeelu's tales of Beatrix Potter, I have a similar infestation of ants. Only many more.
They send in an emissary and next thing you know there are a clan of them. We reported it to our housing complex who kindly provided us with traps that seemed to work after a week or so. They scheduled us for a spray as well but we were cautioned not to do it in a house with allergies or pregnant women and since we have both and the traps seemed to be working we skipped it.
Fast forward to reinfestation after the traps were empty (2 days ago). Convo:
Me: I am going to buy some Terro. That stuff is awesome.
Steve: Um that isn't a good idea. Isn't it really toxic?
Me: Well. I don't know maybe. What do you suggest we do about the ant problem?
Steve: Um.
Me: Okay well how about I let you solve the ant problem?
Steve: Okay. We don't have an ant problem. So I am going to solve it by doing nothing.
Me: What? Okay, so I just looked up Terro and it turns out that it just has borax which some countries still use as a food preservative.
Steve: What countries? Like Russia? Because that doesn't count.
Me: Okay fine I will figure it out.
As I am getting ready to walk out the door I reach up on the bookshelf to taste some of the really yummy chocolate that Steve brought back from Finland for us and guess what? Yep, ants.
Me: Um, honey, there are ants up here in your chocolate. You still think we don't have an ant problem?
(Skip forward two hours after I unsuccessfully tried three stores for Terro)
Me: Honey wait why is the chocolate in this plastic bag? Did you just pick off the ants and put it in the bag?
Steve: What are ants poisonous or something?
